Dear faithful friends,
We are so grateful for you and your constant support and love for the Haitian people. You have made a difference in so many precious lives!
The Hope in Haiti board has been discussing something important and we wanted to let you as our partners know what has been developing. As stewards of your gifts and donations, we are always zealous to make sure your investments are well-placed in the work of raising up educated young leaders, feeding the hungry of forgotten regions of Haiti, and providing school buildings, paid teachers, books, and HOPE! It has recently come to our attention that we can no longer be assured that your gifts are being used as directed in the regions in which we have been working. It is with much prayer, careful consideration, and great sadness that we have decided that we must cease our financial partnership with the schools, clinic, and church we have principally been backing. Our hearts and our prayers are still with each and every one of the students, staff, and leaders there, but our calling to be upright and fastidious in accounting for your donations requires us to make this change. Please be assured that we did not make this decision rashly or without concern and care.
As for what is next for Hope in Haiti, we are prayerfully seeking guidance on what opportunities might be open for us. We do not yet know what we will transition to, but we will keep you informed. There is much work to be done! However, until we have put down new roots and can safely direct your donations to the right cause, we are asking that you pause all donations, gifts, and sponsorship support with our organization. For those of you with automatic withdrawal donations set up, you will need to manage this through your bank or PayPal, whichever you are using. To see how to cancel automatic payments, see this link: PayPal Cancellation
We continue to ask for your prayers during this time of transition. Good overseas work is beautiful and complicated! But in the end, we just want to do whatever God wants. Pray for wisdom, judicious but open hearts, and good relationships.
Thank you for your understanding and for your support you’ve shown us for so long. We look into the future with HOPE that God will continue to use you in mighty ways!
Dixie and the Hope in Haiti board.
