Dear Friends,
“I want you to know how much I am struggling for you, and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally. My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments. For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how orderly you are and how firm your faith in Christ is.” Colossians 2:1-5
Just as Paul shares his heart with the believers in Collossa, I, too, miss my friends and those I don’t know personally in Nan wo and Kawo in Haiti. Paul’s purpose is to encourage them that their hearts might be united in love, that they might know the mystery of God, namely Christ. How I long for these truths to be known by my friends in Haiti; that though they live in poverty, they might become rich in Christ’s love. It’s been too long since I’ve been back to work with them, although several teams have gone without me. Once again, on September 30, I am leaving with a team and will return on October 8th. I ask that you please pray for us – for strength in the stifling heat, for a oneness among the team members, for health, for unity with the Haitian people, for discernment and wisdom in all that we do. May we go as a blessing, not for personal gain, but to give and then give some more. You all are such an encouragement to me as you faithfully support the children of Haiti and their families.
Another school year is just about to begin and in Haiti the children also start school the first week in September. Each sponsored child receives a uniform, a new pair of shoes, school books and supplies. I can just see the excitement in their faces as they receive their new things. We will be taking pictures of the children in Nan wo and updating their information. We also will be setting up a medical clinic and hopefully teaching basic healthcare. We would love for you to collect school supplies once again. Things are on sale right now and how the children in Haiti could use these supplies. We will be taking them back in October when we go. Look for details on where to drop them off or call me. We need everything from pencils, erasers, lined and unlined paper, colored pencils, sharpeners, spiral notebooks, chalk board erasers, chalk, or just be creative!
The camp that was held in August was a giant success. There were 150 children that attended from the surrounding mountains of Haiti. What an experience for them – many have never left their small villages before. They played games, sang, were taught about Jesus, ate and lived together for five days. Thank you to those supporting HOPE in Haiti for making this camp possible for the third time. I heard that six children accepted Christ ….and heaven rejoiced.
Thank you again for all that you do which making it possible to give so much. My friends in Haiti continually tell me to thank you all and that you may be blessed in your homes, your families and in all that you do.
Blessings,
Dixie
