A note from Dixie

by Brandon Gloor on May 7, 2016 Leave a Comment

Dear Friends,

I am writing this to you so that you are aware that Harley and I are leaving Monday, May 9th for Haiti once again.  We will be going by ourselves this time and helping out at Ebenezer Glenn Orphanage in Dessalines for almost a month.  Ken and Marla, who currently oversee the orphanage, are returning to the states to attend their daughter’s graduation and are bringing a little Haitian girl with them who is scheduled for surgery.  Our job will be to keep things running smoothly while they are gone.  With 69 children and many workers, this will be challenging.

This is the same orphanage that I (Dixie) lived at back in 1989-1991 with my husband and 9 children.  We will be staying in my old house with all it’s many memories.  I’m asking that you pray for us as we take on this huge responsibility.  I’m feeling a bit inadequate as we have only a few days left to prepare for this adventure.  Still being newly weds of 8 months, we have sold two houses, bought a new one (although not living there yet), still figuring out how to join two crazy lives together, 5 trips to Haiti, new beautiful grand babies, and so much more…. we covet your prayers.  We long to be covered by His grace that His name will shine bright.

“I lift up my eyes to the hills – where does my help come from?  My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.  He will not let your foot slip – he who watches over your will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you – the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.  The Lord will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”  Psalm 121

Thank you for your willingness to hold us up in prayer.

Dixie and Harley
