Angeline
This summer, as the Hope in Haiti team assisted Pastor Louinet with his camp, several team members noticed a little 11 year old girl often off by herself wiping her red, weepy eyes. Angeline probably had the worst case of Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye) any of us had ever seen. It continued to get worse over the course of the week as she constantly wiped her infected, hurting eyes with a dirty shirt. We prayed with her, gave her tissues to use and dispose of, and applied eye drops in the hope of providing some relief. Unfortunately, things still did not improve. However, on the last day of camp, the Lord opened the doors to be able to take her to the local hospital. We were able to pay the small doctor fee as well as buy the antibiotics she desperately needed. Angeline lives high in the mountains, beyond even our Kawo school and she had a long, difficult hike ahead of her to return home. Never would she have received the medical attention she needed if she had not been down for camp. Before she left, she specifically found several members of the team, and with a great big smile, eyes already looking better, thanked each one and said goodbye. What a joy to be the hands and feet of Jesus in small, yet such significant ways!
